Latest COVID Restrictions for Places of Worship (Sept 15, 2021)

On Sept. 15, new restrictions were announced to deal with the 4th wave of COVID infections across Alberta. Furthermore, at our church council meeting earlier this week (and before the latest restrictions were announced), council affirmed its support for vaccinations in order to protect the health and safety of everyone. In particular, council strongly urges anyone not yet vaccinated who attends our worship services and who is eligible and able to be vaccinated to do so; otherwise we request that you utilize our available live-stream to view our worship services until further notice. This approach provides an enhanced level of protection for the most vulnerable in our midst, including children under the age of 12 for whom a vaccine is not currently available.

The latest provincial restrictions impose capacity limitations on our services and other measures as follows:

  • The maximum capacity is ⅓ of fire code occupancy limits, which for us means a maximum of 100 people, including attendees and participants.

  • Wearing masks is mandatory.

  • 2 meters physical distancing between households or individuals.

To ensure compliance with these measures, we are re-activating the on-line sign-up system we have used before, and are setting the maximum attendees (including service participants) at 80. With over 120 chairs currently set out, this should provide adequate seating while respecting the need for 2 empty seats between families or individual attendees for physical distancing. We will monitor and adjust the number of attendees if/as needed. You can access the on-line RSVP system here: https://rsvp.church/r/Db8FA2nb.

Also, please be aware that we are working on resuming Nursery and Sunday School in the coming weeks; these activities will require a cautious approach to reopening to assure the health and safety of all involved.

Your continued support of these latest measures is required as we each do our part to bring about an end to the pandemic.

Thank you for your prayers and patience,

Randy Mann, Chair of Church Council
