Christian Reformed Church of St. Albert

What to Expect at Sunday Morning Worship Services

Virtual Tour

We have included a Virtual Tour page to help familiarize yourself with the facility.

Service & Worship Style

Services begin at 10:30 am on Sundays. You are welcome to come a bit earlier for coffee, food and socializing. The services typically last about an hour and 20 minutes including songs of worship and a sermon from the Pastor. After the service, you will find people hanging out, drinking coffee and enjoying each other's company. Feel free to strike up conversation with anyone.

The worship songs include a variety of contemporary Christian worship songs with some classic hymns used as well. The words are made available on the projector screen. Most of our musicians are volunteers from the congregation using their talents to bless the church, under the direction of our Director of Music Ministries, Nathan Bootsma.

Approximately once per month there is time taken in the service for the Lord's Supper, as is typically done in many Christian churches. Feel free to ask an elder, usher or the Pastor if you have any questions about this practice. Grape juice and bread is used, with gluten free options made available.

Parking

On the south side of the church property there is a parking lot available for you to use. See the Virtual Tour page for a map. Typically there is spare parking available, however if it is full there is additional parking along the streets.

Accessibility

Accessible parking spaces are available near main entrance. If needed, there is ample space to drop passengers off at the main entrance before parking your vehicle. The main level of the church including sanctuary are all accessible without any stairs. Our church is equipped with an elevator lift to access the basement level.

What to Wear

Mostly you will find a mix of people dressed semi-casually, there is no dress code. You are welcome to come as you are. Let your "Sunday best" be on the inside, and then wear it all week.

Children & Infants

During the Sunday services there is a nursery available for children up to age 3 (once they turn 3 they are optionally allowed to join Kids Worship). There is also a nursing / cry room available at the back corner of the sanctuary as needed.

There is Kids Worship (Sunday School) for children age 3 to grade 6 during the service. You'll find sign-in sheets and waivers for newcomers or visiting children at the bottom of the stairs. Children are typically dismissed before the Pastor's message during the service so you can sit with your children during the Worship Service until that time. To follow Safe-Church protocols, the parents will need to sign in their children downstairs (up to Grade 1) at the time as directed by the Pastor.

The children are welcome to participate in making crafts, playing games and singing songs with God centered learning. If you wish to join your child on the lower level as a parent, you are free to do so (just let the teacher know).

Our children and infant programs are run by volunteers at the church. All volunteers follow the church's Safe Church Policy, including background checks and policies to help create a safe environment. Please inform the lead volunteer if your child has any special needs or allergies.

Questions While You're Visiting

We have greeters that welcome people as they enter the church. We also have ushers that help distribute the bulletins. The greeters or the ushers can help answer your questions. If you have deeper questions, such as those about faith, communion, baptism, they can help connect you with an elder or the church pastor.
