Our Servant Jesus

Philippians 2.1-11

Jesus said that he came to serve, not to be served, and give his life as a ransom for many (Mark 10.45). In Philippians the Apostle Paul quoted an early church hymn or confession about Jesus, our suffering servant. Our Lent series this year will focus on this hymn, which says he ‘emptied himself’ of heavenly glory and humbled himself for our sake, even to death on a cross. May our Lenten reflections and worship deepen our love for our Savior and challenge us to serve him and our neighbors.
